Races of Draston

Races of Draston

Postby Pyro on Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:20 am

Cobracorpen Elves:

These are the most chivalrous Elves in Draston. They stand around 5’11 to 6’6, and are the most muscular of all the Elven races. Their eye color varies, as does their hair, which can range through several different colors. These Elves have more rounded ears then the average Elf and almost all Cobracorpen Elves (even the poorest of them) follow the Code of Chivalry.

Cobracorpen Knights:

Knights of the book: These are the scholar knights of Cobracorpen. They know how to fight but they would rather learn about different lore then draw a sword. It's very useful to have one of these knights around should you run into undead, dragons, or some creature that isn't commonly known about. (They may be able to tell you the creature's weaknesses.) They have a picture of an open book chiseled into their breastplates.

Knight of the Plant: These knights like to spend their time in the open air among the trees and mountains then in the confines of a city. Many have certain powers (turning stone into a liquid and then back to stone, talking to plants or animals, taking command of plants). They have an elegant bush chiseled into their breastplates.

Knights of the Sword: These knights like to spend their time training for combat, adventuring across the Realms, and protecting the innocent. They are very honorable and chivalrous, and are known, as a rule, to be loyal and dependable when things have gotten harder then most people would be able to bear. A longsword is chiseled into their breastplates.

Knights of the Cobra: These knights are trained to hunt down and kill undead creatures. Their weapons are usually made of enchanted silver, and they are often very stern and quiet people. Upon becoming a Knight of the Cobra, a new Knight receives several vials of a liquid poison that is extremely useful against undead. This poison is made partly from cobra venom, hence the name of this particular Knighthood. These Knights have a hissing cobra chiseled into their breastplates.

Other Cobracorpen Military:

Elite Marines: This is a specialized unit trained for amphibious combat, but they are used both on land and sea. The training to become an Elite Marine is extremely intense, and there are only a few Elves that manage to see the end of it. These Elves are highly respected among all the military, regardless of rank. To show that they are an Elite Marine, members wear a badge on their right shoulder with a silver dragon on it.

Creetos Elves

These Elves had an extraordinary ability to create magical items, and they are best known for creating the seven magical Creetos greatswords. As to appearance, all Creetos Elves had blonde hair.

Religion:
These Elves worshipped either Marthna or Glowt.

Enothion Elves

Description:
Enothion Elves always have silver colored hair, and their eyes are normally shades of blue but can be an assortment of colors. Their Gray Elf heritage is visibly present in Enothion Elves, as their skin has a grayish tint, and their ears are like that of a Gray Elf. However, unlike Gray Elves, Enothion Elves cannot turn into a dolphin.

Lifestyle:
Enothion Elves take pleasure in singing and playing musical instruments. Even the least of them know how to play some kind of instrument, and many are masters at many of them. They can live to be 2000 years, and some have far surpassed that number. Because they are the keepers of the Enothion Forest, the Elves frequently hold Druid councils.

History:
Before the nation of Enoth had even been formed, the Creetos and Gray Elves had no love for each other. The Gray Elves lived in what is now known as the Tiger Forest, and the Creetos Elves lived in the Enothion Forest east of Tiger. Then, in 60 B.M., the Gray Elves raided the city of Creetos and ignited a great war between the two Elven races.

This news went all the way to Goodland, where a minotaur mercenary, complete with an extensive army, received an order from the Sailor King of Goodland. As the mercenary army marched northward, the army grew, reaching much higher numbers then before. Dreams of glory, riches, and conquest filled the mercenaries' minds.

Before the army arrived at the two Elven forests, the Gray Elf General Garthan proposed a meeting with Lord Kret of the Creetos Elves. The two Elves agreed on one thing. In order for their respective races to survive, they must work together. For the next fifteen years, the Elves and Goodland mercenaries fought, with both sides taking enormous losses. In the year 75 B.M., the combined Elven army, which numbered half of that of Goodland, defeated the mercenaries. What mercenaries remained fled.

In their wake, they left two enemy Elven races that for a while had lived and fought together. Some of the Gray Elves never set aside their hatred of the Creetos Elves, and went back to the Tiger Forest. But some of the Gray Elves stayed with their Creetos cousins. This combined force of Gray and Creetos Elves made the Enothion Forest into the nation of Enoth. They made protecting the Forest their mission, and are now known as the nation of Druids.

Religion:
Enothion Elves follow either Astar, Zarth, or Jarak.

Combat:
Enothion Elves would rather calm a dispute in a smooth and diplomatic manner, but they will not hesitate to bring up arms should they for certain know that it is necessary. They don't use any blades, preferring quarterstaffs and longbows as their primary weapons.

Gray Elves

Description:
Gray Elves, as one would suppose, are gray in color. They have long gray hair, and the back of their ears are gray. However, their eye color can vary, though they are usually light in color, and shades of gray are the most common. Gray elves are partly related to aquatic elves. Like Aquatic elves they can turn into a dolphin when in water and breathe underwater.

Lifestyle:
These Elves are mischievous and like to have some action, so many of them become bards or rogues. Gray Elf bards are very bright and happy people, given to bursting out into song and dance at any moment, especially if someone asks.

Religion:
Gray elves mainly follow Jarak or Es'thonka (Cogon).

History: A long time ago... two gray elven lovers were cursed by a black robe and they were turned into dolphins. Years later, they bore a child who was elven, but could breathe underwater just as she could breathe air.

The curse was not lifted when the two dolphin lovers died. The elven child was conceived by magic of a black robe's curse and all other children who she bore would be cursed throughtout the course of Draston's existence.

Religion:
All Elves of Lareth follow their patron deity, Marthna. Any that don't are tossed out of the Lareth Forest quite unceramoniously.

Centaurs

Postby Pyro on Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:23 am

Lizard centaurs (Lizard):

Description: Green, black, grey, blue, and purple are the scale colors on the Lizard Centaur's lower body, which is that of a large four-legged reptile. The head atop their mannish torso is usually kept shaved by both males and females. They stand 5’2” to 8’7” tall (from front feet to head).

Lifestyle: Lizard Centaurs usually live in groups of 10 to 20, and only come together as a group twice a year or so for a social gathering in Lizard.
Lizard is a holy place to the Lizard Centaurs. They come there to worship their heathen gods, exchange information, and mate. They are commonly found living with lizard folk and have an average life span of 130 years.

Combat: Lizard Centaurs rather flee then do battle, but when they have to, they use long polearms and archery.

Spider centaurs (Spider):

Spider centaurs have black, red, white, and or gray spider bodies with upper torsos, having dark hair, skin, and eyes. They stand 5’ to 6’ tall (from front feet to head). Spider centaurs are usually greedy and vicious. They greatly value both power and wealth, especially if the item has a magical value. They have a life span of 100 hundred years and usually live in “hives” of 50 to 300. In combat, they like to use spells or ranged weapons tipped with poison. They also have giant pet spiders that they let attack the enemy in melee combat, while they use ranged weapons.

Bull Centaurs (Bull):

With the upper torso of a dark-haired muscular man (or woman) perched on top of a bull's body, bull centaurs possess exceptional strength. They stand 7’ to 8’ tall. Their average life span is 120 years. They rarely use armor, but love big weapons.
